Gladys Gale
born: 15 January 1891
Monmouth, Illinois,
United States of America
died: 04 October 1948
Los Angeles, California,
United States of America
(unexplained circumstances, age 57)
A former Broadway actress, Gale was married to New York millionaire Park Benjamin – brother-in-law of Enrico Caruso.  She had several run-ins with the law and was arrested many times on drunk driving charges.  In 1948, Gale and a man checked into a Hollywood hotel under an alias as Mr. and Mrs. J. Statler of San Francisco.  Gale's nude body was found in a bottle littered hotel room by a bellboy who noticed the door was slightly ajar.  A chemical analysis was ordered and the police noted that the upholstery and some of the plaster in the room had been slashed with a knife – there were no marks on the body to indicate violence.  Gale's body remained in the country morgue for two days before being identified by a welfare agency worker who had come to her aid.

Most sources claim that Gladys plays the role of Billy Gilbert's wife in Laurel & Hardy's The Music Box.  However, it has been reported by historian Richard W. Bann that this was in fact Hazel Howell.
