American actress. Her sister was Leonore "Nora" Ely (1881-1933), one-time casting director for the Hal Roach Studios and later for the Harold Lloyd Film Corporation; their half-brother was Ed Bumps, and they had a brother and a father both named W.H. Ely (the brother was also a casting director, and later a makeup artist). Annie's nephew and niece (Nora's children) were Olaf Shuler and Regena Shuler.
Not to be confused with Ann Carter.
