Blonde American actress and model who posed in magazine ads before seeking a Hollywood career, with some newspaper fashion photo captions noting her work in Hal Roach comedies. In 1937, she married surgeon and physician Dr. Clyde Vincent Nelson, Jr. (1911-1942), a union which ended with his sudden death on 19 June 1942 after he and a fellow doctor fell from the Grand Teton Mountain in Wyoming; four months later, on 9 October 1942, Dorothy gave birth to their daughter, Clydea Vincent Nelson. There may have been another marriage in between 1942 and 1950, as Dorothy is listed as divorced in the 1950 U.S. Census.
