Virginia Baynes

born: 23 December 1899

died: 03 October 1963
San Diego County, California,
United States of America
(age 63)

American actress. She acted in films for three years in the late 1910s for Rolin, Vitagraph, and Douglas Fairbanks. In 1917, she was selected by her friends as the "worth while girl" outlined by the "Round Table" club of the Graduate School at Harvard University, having been felt to match all of the qualifications outlined by the group. In 1920, she married Meinrad Aloysius Schur (1896-1944), a U.S. Navy Ensign who later became a Lieutenant Commander; they had a daughter, Virginia Anne (Schur) Glendening (1928-2001). Mrs. Virginia Baines Schur joined the San Diego Genealogical Society in 1946, becoming its first librarian and serving as such until the year of her passing. She is buried alongside her husband at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego.
She also gave her birth date as 25 December 1899 (Christmas Day), which is the date presented on her headstone. The 23rd is given in family histories (as well as some passenger lists) and is the date I have decided to go with above.
