"San luis Obispo Telegram-Tribune" 16 Dec. 1946:
WILLIAM C. MADSEN, 38, film studio makeup artist, burned to death last night after falling asleep with a lighted cigarette in his fingers.  Firemen found Madsen's body in the smouldering remains of his bed.
