Charles Meakin

born: 02 October 1879
Salt Lake City, Utah,
United States of America
died: 17 January 1961
Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California,
United States of America
(bronchopneumonia & hot water burns after fall in bathtub, age 81)

American actor who allegedly appeared in more than 3,000 films. He was a cousin of Blaine Comer and Verna (Comer) Kornman, the mother of Mary Kornman; Charles' father was an older brother of Blaine & Verna's mother. This thus means that Mary is Charles' first cousin once removed.
On 21 December 1960, Meakin fell in his bathtub, striking his head, and lay unconscious as his lower back was burned by running hot water. He was admitted to the Motion Picture Country Hospital, where he succumbed to terminal bronchopneumonia about a month later. A newspaper notice stated, "doctors said death probably was due to other causes," but his death certificate notes the accident and its resultant burns as antecedent to the bronchopneumonia. Billy Bletcher and Blaine Comer were among the pallbearers at Meakin's funeral service. Meakin is buried at Valhalla Memorial Park in North Hollywood, California.
