American actress who primarily worked as a commercial teacher at public schools (including Gardena High School in Gardena, California). She was the daughter of Clara B. Anderson. Both of them worked with Harold Lloyd.
Vera's first (1910 marriage) husband was a RR locomotive engineer. He died in 1948. They were evidently divorced by the time of her second (1912) marriage to Rudolph von Bachelle who was 18 years older (born Germany or New Jersey). His father was a pharmacist who owned a drug store. Rudolph met Vera in Los Angeles where he worked as a pharmacist. At age 31, this was his first marriage. In May of 1918, Rudolph committed suicide by taking "cyanide of potassium". Death Certificate is linked below.
By January of 1920, Vera was employed as a school teacher in Los Angeles and Spanish-born insurance agent, Jose DeSambad, was boarding with Vera and her Mom. Vera helped him fill
out his citizenship papers and they were married until his death in 1934. Middle name of "May" comes from her 1910 marriage certificate; her 1912 marriage certificate gives her middle name as "Majella."
