American character actress. In April of 1896, she married actor Edward Mackay in Jersey City, NJ. She used the name "Sarah Irving" for the church record but both his and her parents' names matched Julia F. Elder's and Edward Mackay's 1880 and 1900 Census records. Their daughter, Monica Mackay was born in NYC in October 1896. Sometime between 1905 and 1908 she divorced Edward Mackay and married Philip Lewis and as a team, they were a popular, prolific touring stage couple for many years until he died in an auto accident in LA in 1937.
