American actress and extra. At the end of 1934, she was one of the highest-earning female extras in Hollywood, earning $2,120.75 (equivalent to over $50,000 in 2025) for 158 days of work that year. The spelling of her surname depends on the record: spellings include Rhoades, Rhoads, or Rhodes. While her entry in the California Death Index (and presumably, her death certificate) gives her date of birth as the 27th, her entry in the Social Security Death Index gives a slightly different birth date of 09 October 1891.
Her parents were Nora (née Chene; 1872-1952) and Cyrus Byron Hoch (1855-1944); she had two siblings, John Byron Hoch (1899-1922) and Esther Lilly (Hoch) Beche (1908-1970). Suzanne had three husbands over the years. Her first husband was Homer Rhoads (1888-1973), whom she married in 1909 and again in 1912; Suzanne filed for divorce in 1916. They had a son, Homer Hoch Rhoads (1910-1996). She later married actor Allan Sears (1887-1942) in 1925; she filed for divorce over a year later. She then wed automobile sales manager John Henry Seibold (1897-1973) in 1934; like her previous marriage, she filed for divorce and obtained a decree a little over a year afterward. In 1937, Seibold asked that the decree be nullified on the grounds that after Suzanne obtained it, they continued to live together; Suzanne responded that she did so under threats and coercion from Seibold. Seibold ultimately dropped his petition.
