Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Los Angeles, California. 🎭 Other films nominated for Best Picture this year: -Atlantic City. -On Golden Pond. -Raiders Of The Lost Ark. -Reds. 📕 Plot summary: Apparently based on the true story of two British athletes who are chosen to represent their country when they compete in the 1924 Olympics being held in Paris, France. 💥 Standout scene(s): There was just ONE scene in the entire 2 hours of this nonsense that was memorable: the two guys running around the courtyard, trying to finish the race before the gong chimes on the clock tower. 🔑 Facts: -The 54th Academy Awards. -Nominated for 7 Academy Awards, it won 4: Best Picture, Screenplay (original), Music, Costume Design. 🙂 Personal opinion: One of the most utterly boring pieces of cinematic crap I have ever tried to stay awake through. Devoid of any kind of entertainment value and I got very bored very quickly with trying to watch it. I usually gauge the first ten minutes of a movie as to whether or not I am going to enjoy it and my senses were correct on this one. I just did not care. Also, what was with all the athletes pulling silly faces and flapping their arms like chickens when shown in the slow-motion stuff? Embarrassing and ridiculous. The run around the courtyard and the memorable theme music from Vangelis were the only redeeming features from this whole pile of shit. Did it deserve the Oscar? ❌NO!!!!! Try not to laugh here, but this film beat RAIDERS OF THE LAST ARK to the Best Picture Award!!!??? There are so many better films from 1981 that I would rather watch, including An American Werewolf In London, which is 100 times better than Chariots of bloody Fire! Piss off! Chariots Of Fire, my arse. 2/10
