American actor, writer, and musician, a veteran of World War I and graduate of the University of Illinois, Class of 1918 (Advertising). A 1926 newspaper blurb mentions that McConnell was a member of the "Hog Wild Trio," and that he was known as "Ukelele Mac" (the other two members of the trio were Perry Murdock and his brother Frank Murdock). Upon his passing, wire obituaries claimed that McConnell was a double for Harold Lloyd (his Tampa Bay Times obit claims for over a decade), and that he was a short story author, screenwriter, and gag man during his time in Hollywood, being part of both the Writers Guild and Screen Actors Guild. In the mid-1940s, McConnell moved to Sarasota, Florida. As a veteran, he is buried at Bay Pines National Cemetery in Bay Pines, Florida.
