Hugh Crumplin

born: 25 February 1889
Aliwal North [now Maletswai]
South Africa
died: ?

(age ?)

Bald, mustachioed South African-born actor, formerly a Captain in the Royal Field Artillery of the British Army during World War I, who acted in Hollywood pictures from 1925 through the early-mid 1930s, whereafter he returned to England. He was frequently cast in military roles (befitting with respect to his real-life experience in such) or as detectives and society men at upper-class social gatherings.
Note: a death notice exists for a Cecil Walter Crumplin who passed away on 26 May 1969 in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. This would seem to be our Cecil Walter "Hugh" Crumplin, but unfortunately, the record does not give any further specifics beyond his name and his date and place of death. As such, I am treating this record with caution for the time being.
Real name: Cecil Walter Crumplin
Height: 5'11½"
