The Erwings' Band

American 8-piece band/orchestra.

This 1934 photo shows 9 band members vs the 8 in the movie.

But you could likely conclude that the three Erwing Brothers in the band were there for every configuration and therefore in the movie:

James Lane Erwing
born May 29, 1908 - Sherman, Texas
died May 25, 1964 - San Bernardino
James' obit says he's 53 but he's just shaving years off his age, birthdate is given on his WWII draft registration and matches his age in 1930 census.

Harris Johnson Erwing
born Jan 30, 1910 - Sherman, Texas
(listed as 2 months old in April 1910 census, age is on WWII draft registration)
died - March 2, 1986 - San Bernardino

Dorchester Corvin Erwing
born - Oct 12, 1912 - Sherman, Texas
died - Dec 22, 1957 - San Bernardino (Fontana)

Documentation attached (se bottom of page). With filming in Feb 1928 that'd mean the Erwings would be between 15 and 19.
They disappear in mid 1930's but reappear in late 1950s in San Bernardino till about 1962.
