Tall, gray-haired British actor with a distinctively large jaw. He was previously a clerk and an accountant before film acting, and also played cricket for the Los Angeles Cricket Club. Per his naturalization records, he immigrated to the United States from Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, in 1919 (his 1919 declaration of intention says he arrived at the port of San Pedro, California, on 6 May 1919; his 1934 declaration of intention and 1939 petition for naturalization say he arrived in San Francisco on 5 August 1919). On 27 November 1919, he married Canadian native Margaret Wilkie Gilholm (1887-1965), and he filed his first declaration of intention over two weeks later on 15 December 1919. Walter and Wilkie had two children: Margaret Alice (Findon) Reinert (1920-2008) and Richard Walter "Rick" Findon (1925-2008). On 5 December 1934, Walter filed another declaration of intention; on 2 November 1939, he filed his petition for naturalization, which was approved on 9 February 1940. He is buried at Valhalla Memorial Park in North Hollywood, California. |
