Blonde American actress of the 1930s. Her parents were Blanche (née Hoell, 1894-1973) and James William Crawford, Jr. (1881-1956), a salesman, who married around 1910; they later divorced, with Blanche remarrying to George O. Beubler (1885-1943) on 25 May 1943, though unfortunately, George died three months later on 30 August. Virginia had one brother, James William Crawford III (1918-2004).
In 1940, Virginia married William Wonderly Fitler, Jr. (1900-1947), a cordage scion whose grandfather was Edwin Henry Fitler, founder of Edwin H. Fitler & Company, once the largest cordage manufacturer in the U.S., and one-time Mayor of Philadelphia; William's father, William Wonderly Fitler, Sr., followed his father into the cordage manufacturing business. William, Jr. had been married at least once before, having two children including Margaretta, later known as Happy Rockefeller -- wife of New York Governor and U.S. Vice President Nelson Rockefeller, and thus the First Lady of New York (1963-1973) and later the Second Lady of the United States (1974-1977). William preceded Virginia in death by a little under a year, on 30 May 1947. Both Virginia and William evidently had issues with the bottle, as the passing of both involved cirrhosis, with William's death certificate specifying that he suffered from chronic alcoholism for "years." Virginia is buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California.
Virginia's death certificate and headstone give her year of birth as 1913. I'm going with 1910 based on the 1920 U.S. Census (the earliest record I can find for her), which was taken before her September birthday that year and gives her age as 9.
