Rod Bacon

born: 06 June 1914
Denver, Colorado,
United States of America
died: 28 February 1948
Van Nuys, California,
United States of America
(cerebral hemorrhage, age 33)

American actor, the son of Walter Bacon. One source lists his death as homicide but doesn't elaborate. His death certificate gives his cause of death as "cerebral hemorrhage & contusion" due to a "fractured skull," which was the result of an accident (not homicide) via a "fall to [the] floor" while he was at work at an unspecified "industrial" place in Studio City, California. The accident occurred on 27 February 1948 (time unspecified), and Bacon succumbed to his injuries at 2:11am the next morning at Birmingham Veterans Admin. Hospital in Van Nuys, California (he served in World War II). An autopsy was held. Bacon was buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California.
The certificate still gives his occupation as an actor in motion pictures and notes he was at work at the time of the accident, so one can assume that the "industrial" place in Studio City where his fall occurred was a film studio -- if so, then it would all but likely be Republic Studios (formerly the Mack Sennett Studios; now Radford [CBS] Studio Center). One obituary notes he succumbed to a cerebral hemorrhage, but neither that nor any other death notices give further specifics on what exactly happened.
I [Jesse Brisson] assume that sources giving his cause of death as homicide are the result of his being confused with his like-surnamed "Masked Marvel" (1943) co-star David Bacon (no relation), who was mysteriously murdered in 1943.
