American actress of the 1920s and early 1930s. Her parents were Clara Margaret (née Ford, 1866-1943) and Eugene "Gene" Ringer (1871-1908), who married on 11 September 1892 in Pullman, Washington. On her 1915 marriage certificate, Jean/Effie gives her birthplace as Pullman, as opposed to nearby Almota as stated by other sources. Later, she dropped the "Effie" from her name and was known on later vital records as just Owen (Ringer) Huntley.
In 1915, she married Lawrence Platt Huntley (1892-1925). They had a son, Eugene William Huntley (1916-1973), who became a neuropsychiatrist. The Huntleys' union ended ten years later with Lawrence's passing in 1925, from pulmonary tuberculosis. In 1932, Jean married acrobat/stuntman-turned-film producer Paul Malvern (1902-1993), a marriage that lasted until her passing in 1979. They are entombed within the Abbey of the Psalms at Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California.
