Black American actress. In 1924, she married porter Wright Cuney Anderson (1898-1948), who survived her upon her 1942 passing. In the 1930 U.S. Census, she gives her occupation as actress in motion pictures. Her death certificate says she succumbed to "anesthetic death" due to "left empyema - rt. hydrothorax - lt. atelectasis" (3 mos.) and "carcinoma - metastatic - left breast" (10 years); an operation on 21 October 1941 found "Cancer lt. breast - recurrent." She is buried at Evergreen Cemetery in Los Angeles. She later claimed a birth year of 1900; 1897 is confirmed by the 1900 and 1910 U.S. Censuses. |
