Blonde American actress, also known as Gwen Donovan; she later became a cosmetics manufacturer, following in the footsteps of her mother, "Princess" Helaine Seager (b. Anna Myrtle Buckley, 1891-1963). Tracking Gwen's origins is a mite complicated due to the lack of an easily findable birth record. Percy William Seager (1888-1918) married Helaine in Yuma, Arizona, on 21 April 1912; they then re-married in Los Angeles just over a year later, on 25 April 1913, two months after Gwen's birthdate as stated on her Social Security records. On the 1913 marriage certificate, Anna/Helaine gives her residence as San Bernardino, California, which is given as Gwen's birthplace on her Social Security Numident File record, while Percy Seager's is given as an address in Los Angeles. Gwen does not appear to have a record in the California Birth Index. Percy died on 21 June 1918, at age 29. On 23 December 1944, Gwen married Craig Woods (1918-1974), actor and son of Harry Woods; she filed for and was granted a divorce just a few months later. On 18 June 1953, she re-married to stuntman Ruel Fenton "Duke" Taylor (1907-1982). The Taylors are interred in the Columbarium of Valor at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles, California. Some sources accidentally swap the numbers applying to the month and date of her birth date (2/7) and her death date (3/11), thus giving her dates as 2 July (7) 1913 - 3 November (11) 2000. |
