American actress. She married Ashley Miller, an established actor and director of stage productions in 1899. The NYC Census of 1920 Jan 08 enumerated Ethel (housewife) & Ashley Miller (director - motion pictures) with their son, Ashley Browning Miller, who was not quite 2 (born 22 March 1918, Brooklyn). It's possible but not plausible that she left the son with her mother (who lived with them as a widow) and beat a path to Los Angeles. To clear up some potential confusion: Annette D'Agostino Lloyd's "The Harold Lloyd Encyclopedia" lists her as Ethel Miller; whereas the IMDb lists her as Ethel Browning. It is the same person. |
