American police officer and sometime film actor who served as a motorcycle policeman for the Culver City Police Department. This led to occasional acting roles within his profession in films for Hal Roach, MGM, and RKO-Pathé. He joined the Culver City Police Department as a motor officer in 1927, was promoted to sergeant in 1945, and retired in 1958 after 32 years of service. Among his firsts: he was the first officer of the Culver City force to serve actively for 30 years, as well as the first motor officer to ride for 30 years, and at the time of his retirement, he was the only city employee to serve as long as he did without taking one day off for sick leave.
