American actress. She won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in "In Old Chicago" (1938). Unfortunately she passed away just a year later at the age of only 46. Three years after that her only son, Donald Crane died at the age of 19.
She was posthumously awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6201 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, California on February 8, 1960. Her remains are interred at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, New York.
