Uruguayan actor who immigrated to the United States in 1912, arriving at the port of New Orleans, Louisiana, that spring. His 1917 World War I draft registration card notes he spent six years as a gunner in the Regia Marina (Royal Italian Navy); on the card, he gives his then-current location as the Goodall Hotel in San Diego, California, and his occupation as cook for the U.S. Grant Hotel in San Diego. In World War I, he enlisted in the U.S. Army on 1 November 1917 and was honorably discharged on 31 July 1919; regarding his rank, his Veterans Administration Master Index file places him as a Private in Company M, Headquarters Regiment, of the First Army, while his headstone places him as a Private in the 316th Engineer Regiment, 91st Infantry Division. On his 1920 petition for naturalization, he is living in Los Angeles and is an art student (he also gives his year of birth as 1890, as opposed to 1888 on all other records). 1933 articles on character actors refer to him as a "dog-faced actor." As a World War I veteran, he is buried at Los Angeles National Cemetery.
